SERMON: DIVINE FAVOUR, FALL UPON ME BY FIRE

Opening Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for bringing us together in Your presence today. We ask for the power of Your Word to flow mightily as we explore the subject of Divine Favour. Open our hearts to receive, transform us by Your truth, and let Your favour fall upon us like fire. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Text: Psalm 102:13

"Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come."

Introduction

Favour is the undeniable evidence of God's hand upon a person’s life. It is what distinguishes individuals, elevates destinies, and accelerates divine blessings. Divine favour is the supernatural grace of God that attracts His goodness and blessings into a person’s life. It is not earned by human effort, but by the mercy of God. When God’s favour locates you, no force in heaven, on earth, or beneath the earth can stop His purpose for your life.

Today, we will delve into some important facts about Divine Favour, its transforming power, and how to position yourself to receive it. We will also share a true-life story to inspire you to pray and walk in God’s favour.

IMPORTANT FACTS TO KNOW ABOUT FAVOUR:

1. The Favour of God Brings Man from Grass to Grace

God’s favour has the power to change stories. A perfect biblical example is the story of Joseph. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers and falsely accused in Potiphar’s house. Yet, when the favour of God rested upon him, he rose from being a prisoner to becoming the Prime Minister of Egypt (Genesis 41:39-44).

Joseph’s journey teaches us that no matter how low you may find yourself, the favour of God can lift you up and grant you a seat of honor.

True-Life Story:

A young man who was a school dropout in Nigeria found himself hawking groundnuts to survive. While praying fervently for God's intervention, someone introduced him to a skill-training program. He excelled because of God's favour, and his work attracted investors. Today, he is a celebrated entrepreneur with numerous awards. This is the power of Divine Favour that can take someone from "grass to grace."

2. The Favour of God Makes a Beggar to Become a Prince

The Bible tells us about Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, who lived in obscurity and poverty in the land of Lo Debar. Despite his crippled state, he was remembered and invited to dine continually at King David’s table (2 Samuel 9:1-13). This was not because of anything Mephibosheth did, but because of God’s covenant and favour.

God’s favour can restore what you have lost and place you where you never thought possible.

3. The Favour of God Catapults a Man from the Valley to the Mountain-Top Life

The favour of God transforms lives dramatically. When God decides to favour you, your location, background, or qualifications become irrelevant. Consider Esther, a Jewish orphan who became queen in a foreign land (Esther 2:17). It was Divine Favour that singled her out and elevated her to royalty.

If you feel like you are stuck in the valley today, trust God for His favour. He will elevate you beyond your imagination.

4. The Favour of God Moves a Man from Poverty to Prosperity

The story of Jabez illustrates this truth. Jabez cried out to God for a transformation of his circumstances, and God granted his request (1 Chronicles 4:9-10). When God’s favour rests on you, your story changes from lack to abundance.

The Bible reveals that success is not solely the result of human effort but of God’s favour. Ecclesiastes 9:11 says, "The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong... but time and chance happen to them all." Divine favour is that "chance" that opens doors and makes success possible.

8. When a Person Lacks the Favour of God, He Would Experience a Closed Heaven

A lack of favour can lead to struggles and frustration. Deuteronomy 28:23-24 describes the consequences of disobedience, which include closed heavens and a dry land. This shows the importance of aligning with God’s will to attract His favour.

Divine Favour is essential for fulfilling your God-given destiny. Without it, life can be a series of struggles. Luke 2:52 says, "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man." Even Jesus required favour to accomplish His mission on earth.

Steps to Activate Divine Favour

1.  Live a Life of Obedience: Obedience to God attracts His favour (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).

2.  Pray Aggressively for Favour: Ask God to release His favour upon your life.

3.  Be Diligent and Faithful: Proverbs 22:29 emphasizes the importance of diligence.

4.  Seek God’s Presence: Spend time in worship and the Word to experience God’s favour.

5.  Trust in God Completely: Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord and lean not on our understanding.

Powerful Prayer Points for Divine Favour

1.  O Lord, let Your favour locate me and rewrite my story for good!

2.  My Father, arise and let the fire of Divine Favour fall upon my life, in Jesus’ name.

3.  Every enemy of my favour, be destroyed by fire!

Conclusion

4) I command year 2024 to swallow all my problems, in Jesus' name.

5) I am a carrier of the spirit of favour, therefore, I will be connected to good men and women that matter in the society in year 2025, in Jesus' name.

6) The oil of favour on my head, hear the word of the Lord, attract dumbfounding breakthroughs, in year 2025 and beyond, in Jesus' name.

7) I am a carrier of the spirit of favour, therefore, I shall not beg to eat in year 2025 and beyond, in Jesus' name.

8) I am baptized with the spirit of divine favour, therefore, I shall not experience the spirit of failure at the edge of breakthroughs in year 2025 and beyond, in Jesus' name.

9) I am a carrier of divine favour, therefore, I shall be the head and not the tail in year 2025 and beyond, in Jesus' name.

10) I have received favour from the Lord, therefore, all my mockers shall be put to shame in year 2025, in Jesus' name.

11) I have received favour from the Lord, therefore, the spirit of backwardness, stagnancy and frustration, shall not locate me in year 2025 and beyond, in Jesus' name.

12) I have received favour from the Lord, therefore, the spirit of death and hell shall not locate me in year 2025 and beyond, in Jesus' name.

13) I have received the spirit of favour from the Lord, therefore, I shall be prompted and elevated in year 2025 and beyond, in Jesus' name.

14) I have received favour from the Lord, therefore, my divine helpers shall locate me and help me in year 2025 and beyond, in Jesus' name.
